Ok firstly before I even begin this blog, who else feels like this year has just flown by?
Raise your hand if you feel like it was June just two days ago?
Ok phew, glad to know it’s not just me!
But here we are… in the last few days of 2018 and naturally we’re all drawn to reflect and look back at the year. I love it because it’s an opportunity for all of us to practise gratitude, forgiveness and letting go.
This year has been nothing short of amazing… with some super highs and of course some lows too. This year I’ve finally managed to break through my own stigma and talk openly about mental health, be able to make the switch to becoming a full time yoga teacher and feel happy in myself. The journey may not have been the smoothest but I remember that each twist and turn has taught me something and I’m grateful for that.
This year I’ve read some incredible books and have made a bit more time for the things I love. Highlights of my favourite books this year:
- Notes on a Nervous Planet by Matt Haig
- Wild by Cheryl Strayed
- You are a Badass by Jen Sincero
- First we make the beast beautiful by Sarah Wilson
- Adventures of a young naturalist by David Attenborough
- The Universe has your back by Gabrielle Bernstein
Along with reading I’m so grateful for each and every one of you that has come along to classes this year or supported me in some way. I’ve been able to teach at some of the most incredible locations:
- Westfield shopping centre
- LoveFit festival
- Rooftop by St. Pauls
- Hyde Park and various offices, homes and coffee shops. A huge thank you to you!
Every full moon I like to practise a gratitude and lettings go ceremony… it’s like celebrating new years every month! But I’ve made a lovely little document you can print off and fill in with your kids, parents, grandparents or best friend. It will fill you with all the warm fuzziness as the year comes to an end… But don’t forget to share your final filled out sheet with me on instagram (@todaywesmile_yogi).
Happy New Year! Love and hugs
